Specialist Leader of Education - Sue Flemington

I have experience of teaching mainstream across Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2 and  I am currently enjoying leading the Lower School Department  at Exeter House Special School in Salisbury.  I oversee the teaching and learning of  seven classes, all of which meet the complex needs of our children with severe learning disabilities.

As a result, I am very aware of the challenges and barrier to learning that can be met  when trying to ensure that all pupils, inclusive of their needs, are able to meet their potential and enjoy success in their learning.

My passion is for developing early reading skills and the teaching of phonics, which led me to design our school specific phonics teaching tool which has had a considerable impact on the learning outcomes for our children.

My SLE specialisms are:

-Developing early reading skills

-Supporting colleagues to develop their subject knowledge in teaching phonics
